The following site tells many stories and has pictures from WWII veterans who were stationed in the Aleutian Island during the war. A lot of people are unaware of this part of WWII. This site was developed and maintained by a very good and long time friend of mine and a USAF retiree.

Edward W. Wickemeyer was a waist gunner, flight engineer and aerial photographer on a B-24 Liberator named "The Uninvited". During WWII he flew bombing missions over many islands in the South Pacific as a member of the 11th Bombardment Group (H). His son (Dan) has a web site with many pictures his dad took during the war.

TSgt. Paul Fredrick Adler, USAAC, was a flight engineer/gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress during WWII. During the attack on Hickam Field he was a mechanic’s instructor. Later he volunteered for flying status as a flight engineer/gunner on Capt. Hall’s crew. On February 1, 1943 as a member of Capt. Hall’s crew they were reported as missing in action in the Solomon Islands. His son, who was born on the day he was reported missing, has written a biography, “Lost in the Pacific”, about his dad.
